The Paint In Your Pyjamas Internet Correspondence Art Course
Summary of Course Units
The following six units make up the full Paint In Your Pyjamas
beginners art course. A certificate (optionally graded) is presented on the
completion of all six units.
There are six units in the beginners level. Each of the
six courses are ten weeks in duration, with students studying for around two
to four hours
per week.
If you are a beginner artist the recommended entry
point is Unit 1, however, students may enter the course at through
other units at the tutors discretion based on an assessment of your current skills.
What is the cost of the course?

Traditional
and contemporary art techniques presented:
Construction drawing, Grid method and Six pencil techniques. Major
project; complete a drawing in pencil.
Art medium being used
Drawing: Graphite pencil on quality drawing paper.

Paint and Mix Colour in Your Pyjamas
Traditional and contemporary art techniques presented:
Colour Wheel with tints and shades, Basic colour schemes, Three
Technique colour mixing. Major project; mix your colours to match a choice
of four paintings and paint in a hard-edge semi-abstract style.
Art medium being used:
Painting: Acrylic paints on canvas.

3D Pencil Shading in Your Pyjamas
Traditional and contemporary art techniques presented:
The value scale, Theory of light and shade, Graphite pencil the
shading technique. Project: complete a three-dimensional drawing in
graphite pencil using the value scale and shading technique.

Drawing: Graphite Pencil on quality drawing paper

Self-portraiture In Your Pyjamas
Traditional and contemporary art techniques presented:
Charcoal techniques, Proportions and placement of the facial features
for adults, study of the individual facial features. Major Project;
Self-portrait in charcoal and white conte on grey paper using a black and
white photograph and mirror as a reference.
Art medium being used:
Drawing: Charcoal with white conte on grey pastel paper.

Perspective in Your Pyjamas
Traditional and contemporary art techniques presented:
1,2 and 3 point Perspective, Proportion and construction drawing. Major
project; draw an object displaying perspective techniques taught.

Drawing: Graphite pencil on quality drawing paper.

Compose Original Art in Your Pyjamas
Traditional and contemporary art techniques presented:
Idea Development, Composition, Painting in a hard-edge semi-abstract style. Major Project; produce an original artwork in
acrylic on canvas.
